What do you need to know before installing a cold storage door?

Don't underestimate the cold storage door. It is not an ordinary door, but the key to the insulation, energy saving and smooth operation of the entire cold storage. Many people focus on the equipment and refrigeration system when building a cold storage, but install the door casually, resulting in continuous problems in the later stage - leakage, icing, unable to push open, high energy consumption. So what should you pay attention to before installing the door? This article will give you a clear answer.

1. What is the temperature of the cold storage? Not all doors can be used

First ask yourself a basic question: What should be placed in the cold storage and what is the temperature?

Is it a fresh-keeping storage? The temperature is above 0℃? The requirements for the door are relatively low.

Is it a freezer? It is -18℃ or even lower? The insulation and sealing performance of the door must be able to withstand it, and the door frame must also be heated to prevent icing.

Don't think that "one door is universal". The structure and configuration of the door must change with different temperatures.

2. Is the door used frequently? How many times a day is it opened?

Is your door:

How many times a day is it opened and closed?

Or are logistics vehicles and forklifts constantly in and out, busy all the time?

If it is the latter, don't choose a door that opens and closes slowly and is easy to get stuck. It is recommended to use a fast door or a sliding door, which not only opens quickly, but also reduces the loss of cold air, saving electricity and worry.

3. Is there enough space for installation? Can it slide?

Doors cannot be installed whenever you want. Check whether the following conditions exist on site:

Is the wall thick enough? Can it support the weight of the door?

Is the ground flat? Is there a risk of condensation or icing?

Are there any obstacles around? Can the door be opened and closed smoothly?

Especially for sliding doors and hinged doors, enough space for opening the door must be reserved, otherwise it will not be easy to use after installation.

4. Is the door insulation reliable?

The job of the cold storage door is to "block the hot air outside". So you must choose:

\\The door core filled with high-density polyurethane (PU)\\ is good enough for thermal insulation;

There must be seal strips around the door to prevent air leakage when closed;

The freezer door must also be equipped with anti-frost electric heating, otherwise the door will not open at all when it freezes in winter.

Once the seal is not good, your refrigeration equipment will have to work twice as hard, and the electricity bill will rise.

5. Safety cannot be ignored, especially people must be able to get out

If you have employees who often go in and out of the cold storage, especially the freezer, please be sure to add:

Internal opening emergency device, which can be opened by yourself when people are locked in;

Window or small window, convenient for checking the situation inside the door;

Some cold storages will also add alarm system or sensor light to improve safety.

Don't wait until something happens to remember the importance of safety.

6. Does it need to be electric?

Some cold storage doors are electric, such as fast rolling shutter doors and sliding doors. Before installation, you need to confirm:

Is there a stable power access point;

Is it necessary to install remote control, sensors, access control systems;

Is there any reserved control line, motor space, etc.

Electric doors are indeed convenient to use, but you must equip the system well. Don't install it "half-baked". It will not be automatic at that time, which will become troublesome.

7. Find a reliable person to install it, don't figure it out by yourself

Cold storage doors are not ordinary doors. Their installation requires sealing, flatness, and stability. It is best to find an experienced master to install them.

If the installation is not in place, it will leak air and frost at the least, and the door body will be misaligned and cannot be pushed open at the worst;

After installation, remember to ask the other party to test it to ensure that the door opens and closes smoothly and is tightly sealed.

You get what you pay for. Don't try to make the door a "hole" for cheap.

8. How to maintain it later? Are the accessories easy to buy?

Before installing the door, you should ask a few questions:

If there is a problem later, is it easy to repair?

Are the accessories (strips, motors, guide rails) common and easy to buy?

Does the manufacturer have after-sales service? Do they just leave and not care about anything?

If you choose a non-brand or custom door, it will be difficult to repair it in a short time if there is a problem, and the delay will also affect the normal use of the cold storage.

The cold storage door is not a supporting role. Its selection and installation affect the operation of your entire cold storage. Before installation, figure out the temperature, frequency, structure, safety, power supply and other things, so as to avoid detours and save more trouble. Don't wait until there is a problem to remedy it. Prepare in advance, the door will be used smoothly, and the cold storage will save worry and electricity.
